The project deals with the recovery of a simple dwelling having a regular shape in plan and built on two levels : the case of typical construction that has characterized the development of the area in the 60s. The site is characterized by a narrow and long shape on the north-south direction with a surface that measures 15m and a depth of 35m . It overlooks on its short sides, via mache on one side and via abruzzo on the other one, on the latter it has a free outlook sight in the direction of Cava’s park. On the east and west fronts some buildings are built directly on the border of the property. The final result of the projectcome out from a careful analysis of the peculiarities expressed by the site, the research of the free points of view and the architectural dialogue composition between the existing building and its development. The resulting composition is a game ” interlocking ” of volumes that span, overlap and mingle among them whose shape is firmly rooted on the ground floor whilst to the first level, the volume becomes stretched like a telescope that reaches the view of the park. The building on the ground floor is characterized by mat plastered surfaces alternating with a system of wooden and glass facades opening onto courtyards while the upper volume is covered with fiber cement panels coloured both on the vertical walls and on the roof to put in evidence its monolithic apparence.

Il progetto interviene su un’abitazione costruita negli anni ’60, articolata su due livelli, collocata in un lotto stretto e profondo (35 m) orientato nord–sud. Il contesto è ad alta densità: i confini est e ovest sono saturati da edifici in aderenza, mentre sui lati corti l’area si apre verso via Marche e, sul lato opposto, verso la vista libera sul Parco Giovanni Paolo II.

La proposta nasce dall’ascolto attento delle tensioni del sito: vincoli, margini, possibilità di fuga visiva. L’ampliamento non viene imposto, ma innestato in relazione diretta con l’esistente. I volumi si incastrano, si sovrappongono, si compenetrano in un equilibrio calibrato. Al piano terra la massa rimane radicata, densa, costruita con pieni intonacati alternati a legno e vetro che aprono relazioni profonde con le corti interne. Al livello superiore il volume si allunga, si snellisce e si protende sospeso verso il parco come un cannocchiale.

Il risultato è un’architettura che rilegge l’edificio originario non come limite, ma come matrice. Il progetto diventa gesto di continuità e superamento: un corpo che si ancora alla terra e contemporaneamente cerca orizzonte. Una forma che trasforma la costrizione in direzione, e il vincolo in possibilità.
